Southampton Container Terminal recognises that feeding containers to UK and mainland European destinations is a main requirement for shippers and shipping lines seamlessly moving cargo near to its final destination and easing the pressure on the overstretched road networks. SCT has now completed a major development plan which has increased the terminals capacity to 2.0M TEU. This plan combined with the purchase of a dedicated 100-tonne mobile harbour crane enables SCT to work with feeder operators and deep sea lines to increase the range of feeder services.
With increased service reliability and a feeder facility with a dedicated 100-tonne mobile harbour crane SCT intend to make feeder services a real alternative to road/rail and continental transhipments.
