“Motivated to protect the environment, our
people and the community in
which we operate.”
At Southampton Container Terminals we are committed to compliance with environmental legislation, prevention of pollution and the achievement of continual improvement.
We place particular emphasis on significant environmental aspects such as the protection of controlled waters, fuel usage and storage, waste management, and the protection of wildlife and habitats. In an effort to maintain our role in protecting the environment, we continually evaluate improvements in technology and seek new opportunities to improve our performance.
We constantly strive to improve standards throughout our areas of operations by enhancing environmental awareness and commitment amongst our employees through structured training, and by encouraging the adoption of sound environmental principles amongst sub-contractors and customers alike.
We set quantifiable objectives and targets and monitor progress by reporting key environmental impacts of operations, the improvements achieved and targets for the future.
The profile of environmental issues is being continually raised, both in the commercial and public domain. For that reason, we are keen to ensure the impact of our operations is kept to a minimum and improve the benefits within the community. One method recently utilised by us is the adoption of the principles of Sustainable Development.
